3 Reasons Why Early Educational Intervention Is Critical to Your Child’s Success

The Early bird gets the a!

Think back to a time when you learned a new skill. The long hours and the constant mistakes were all part of the experience. Education is a lot like that. Not all students grasp every concept immediately. In fact, for many, it can take a while before they start absorbing the content like sponges.

You don’t need us to tell you or your child that school can move at a very fast pace and that once a student falls behind, playing catch-up is difficult to say the least.

COVID threw a wrench like no other into the last year-and-a-half of school, and students will be returning to class in-person full time, and they are expected to hit the ground running. If your child has shown any signs of struggle with academics, early educational intervention is critical.

Let’s look at three reasons why.

1) Prevents Bigger Problems
Education is a life-long process that lasts way after we’re done with school. Still, school is arguably the only time that we’re expected to learn so many different subjects and excel at them all.
Grasping a new algebraic concept like the quadratic equation, for example, allows a student to understand more advanced ones, laying the groundwork for success in that class.

But the opposite is also true.

A concept that isn’t understood fully creates a gap in understanding. A student may get passable grades with an insufficient understanding of the lessons but eventually their conceptual weakness will begin to cost them.

As the student progresses through the grades, the gap will only get larger and larger until advanced lessons just go over their head completely. Tutoring can be of great help in this regard because it allows your children to engage with areas where they’ve struggled the most.
With focused, individualized lessons to navigate problem areas, children and parents can prevent much bigger problems from developing in the future.

2) Improves Confidence and Self Esteem
As we’ve previously written, confident students participate more in class, absorb material faster, and have positive attitudes toward learning. Bad grades and low test scores naturally send self-confidence and self-esteem into the gutter, and getting back on track can seem like an uphill battle.
Getting to the root earlier and identifying a child’s learning style can make a world of difference. By helping kids overcome their academic obstacles through early educational intervention, we are able to provide them with a strong sense of self-belief. This allows them to see every hurdle as a challenge that they can overcome.

3) Builds Good Habits
Early intervention builds strong academic habits. Concepts are not only reinforced, but each individual is taught how to deal with setbacks and problems. This allows children to think about their issues critically and come up with solutions on their own.
In Illinois, the saying goes, “Vote early and often.” Let’s revise that to “Educate early and often” because it’s never too early to create life-long learners.
